Honey Barbeque Jerky: The Wondrous Melt-In-Your-Mouth Relish

If you expect a vivid intro to the taste and texture of South African beef jerky here, expect to get none. We are not telling that this is one of the most mouth-watering dishes in the world.

And we also won’t tell that this dried meat recipe has innumerable fans in the world, whether you consider eating some of its major forms such as biltong in USA or Droewors in Argentina.

Having informed you nothing as aforementioned, we would head straight to prepare a delicious beef jerky dish which is quite a popular one. You could call it as ‘Honey Barbeque Jerky’ and its sweet and tangy flavors are bound to match the desires of your taste buds.

And what’s more interesting is that the final jerky dish you obtain is way better than the normal jerky you acquire from the market.

Let us know the ingredients you need for this:

·       Meat or Meat Strips- 1 lb (lean portions)
·       Honey- half a cup
·       Ketchup- half a cup
·       Butter- one-fourth of a cup
·       Dijon mustard- 1 teaspoon
·       Vinegar- 1 tablespoon
·       Brown sugar- 2 tablespoon
·       Soy sauce- 1 tablespoon
·       Garlic- 1 clove (grated)

·       Chili powder- according to your taste.

Preparation Method:

·       Cut the meat into thin slices. However, if you do not wish to do this, you could order beef jerky strips from some store, which could even contain some flavors.

·       Take a bowl and combine all the ingredients well. Put the meat strips in the marinade and let the mixture sit in the refrigerator for just a few minutes (refrigerating it before is an optional step).
·       Take the ingredients out and let them sit in the open till they reach the room temperature.
·       Simmer them in a pan for about 5 minutes. Allow it to cool after this.

·       Take a container and keep the meat about 3 to 4 layer deep in it. As you spread the layer, spoon a mixture of sauce over each layer

·       Cover this container tightly and transfer it to the refrigerator again, this time keeping it for about 6 to 12 hours and turning it occasionally.

·       Remove it from the refrigerator and transfer it to a dehydrator. This container with the meat is kept in the dehydrator for about 24 to 36 hours.

Once done, take this out and allow it to cool at room temperature. And here it is, your self-prepared honey barbeque jerky that is too tempting to resist. You could transfer it to an airtight container and keep it for some days.

This modified form of South African beef jerky is enough to drive you crazy with its taste.

But if you love the jerky and biltong more in its traditional taste, you could get them from your favorite online stores and enjoy them at your leisure. These dried meat recipes would satisfy you in any form you consume them. Do not forget to taste the modified version.
